The Art of Business

  • The National Youth Arts Wales Business Members' Network was launched in Autumn, 2004 @ the Sherman Theatre, Cardiff, prior to a performance of the National Youth Theatre of Wales's show Whispers in the Woods
  • Arup, Arts & Business Cymru and West End star Caroline Sheen lent their support to a venture aimed at supporting the future development of national youth arts in Wales
  • The partnership between NYAW and ARUP was commended at the 12th Arts & Business Cymru Awards, at a dinner at the Wales Millennium Centre in March, 2005. The NYAW Business Members' Network featured in the "Staff Involvement" category - the category that recognises employee development through the arts.

Business leaders and youth arts practitioners joined forces in 2004 to celebrate the launch of National Youth Arts Wales Business Members' Network.

"Our objective is to use our design and management experience to supplement skills already available within NYAW and to work together to set up a funding stream to support the future development of Youth Arts in Wales in the years ahead," explains Steven Luke, Director Arup.

In 2003, Arup came on board to support the NYTW production of Frida and Diego - a love story through two corporate events held at the Sherman Theatre. Funds were raised to take the Company out on the road for the first time in four years. In 2004, Arup's support was extended to provide invaluable advice on setting up the Business Members' Network.

"It is an opportune time for new sponsors to join us - at the beginning of an exciting period of growth, change and recognition for the arts and young people across Wales," says Pauline Crossley.
