Music Director 2012: Percy Pursglove

National Youth Jazz Wales provides the opportunity for talented young jazz musicians to develop their improvisational and ensemble skills under the guidance of some of the UK’s best jazz specialists. Its members perform in small combos as well as a conventional 18 piece big band, covering music from the age of swing through to contemporary charts.

NYJW is one of a range of initiatives created under the auspices of National Youth Arts Wales. Administered by Ty Cerdd - Music Centre Wales, the NYJW has appeared throughout Wales and in recent times has given well received performances at Aberystwyth MusicFest and the Welsh Proms.

NYJW Jazz Access is an exciting new initiative aimed at young musicians who may not yet be ready for full NYJW membership. The 3 day residential course will help to develop a range of skills including performance, improvisation and stylistic awareness.
