Choral Collaboration.

The National Youth Choir of Wales and the National Youth Training Choir of Wales will join forces for a Christmas concert, supported by the Friends of NYCW, at All Saints' Church, Penarth on 21st December 2005.

The Training Choir is an exciting new development for the NYCW which, in 2005, brought together 35 young choristers from all over Wales. A series of four workshops culminated in a thrilling and enthusiastically received performance at the Wales Millennium Centre in November. The vocal sound was impressive, and augers well for the future.

The workshops, under the direction of the Choir's Conductor, Islwyn Evans, concentrated on sight-reading skills and general vocal development, preparing the young choristers for future audition for the National Youth Choir.

Membership of the Training Choir has been extended to choristers aged 14 - 17 years to encourage young singers - especially boys - to maintain their interest in singing through their early teens.
