National Youth Arts Wales

New Concertos premiered by National Youth Brass Band.

As part of its policy of supporting new music, the National Youth Brass Band of Wales performs two new concertos during its tour of North Wales this summer.

NYBBW will play in Galeri, Caernarfon (28 July - 7.30pm), Elfed Theatre, Buckley (29 July 7.30pm) and Prichard-Jones Hall, University of Wales, Bangor (30 July 3pm).

Bill Connor's Concerto for Piano (four hands) and Brass Band was originally written for Beaumaris Band and has been revised by the composer and receives its first performance on 28th July at Galeri in Caernarfon. The soloists are mother and son duo Helen and Harvey Davies.

On July 29th at the Elfed Theatre in Buckley, following an afternoon workshop for local brass players, the Band's evening concert sees the first performance of the Concerto for Tenor Horn and Brass by Gareth Wood, with soloist Owen Farr, a former member of the NYBBW. A second performance will be given in the Prichard Jones Hall, Bangor on 30th July.

The popular music of Karl Jenkins is also featured in three works in the concert season this summer.
